Old Westbury Homes For Sale
Searching for a home in Old Westbury? Excellent choice, since the town of Old Westbury is one of the most prominent locations on all of Long Island.
Here is a little bit of history on Old Westbury.
Westbury was founded by English settlers, named after their home county of Wiltshire, England. Westbury had been a Quaker community of farms until the railroad came in 1836. After the Civil War, the New York elite discovered that the rich, well wooded flat countryside was a place to raise horses, and to hunt foxes and play polo.
The Village of Old Westbury was incorporated in 1924, separating itself from Westbury.
Just over 5,000 people live in Old Westbury and the village is listed as the most expensive New York suburb. It ranks as the tenth most expensive community in the United States.
